CONGRATULATIONS to John Abouseif, (grade 8) who won this year’s school-wide bee, and Sophia Wolfgang (grade 6): both qualified for the Grand Championship Oral Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 19.
John Abouseif (grade 8) won this year’s school-wide bee. Sophia Wolfgang (grade 6) finished second. Both students will now compete against other students from Central PA in the Regional Bee. The next step for our Falcons is the online qualifier. Stay tuned for more news in January.
YAC (Youth Action Club)
Youth Action Club will be traveling to Operation Clean Sweep, the clean up of the wreaths at Indiantown Gap Military Cemetery on January 29. All CCMS students are welcome to attend. If you cannot attend the meeting but want to learn more about the projects, see Mrs. Raytick in the Learning Center or Mr. Muritz in room B-01.
Math 24 Challenge
Math 24 is an academic competition held each May. Students in grades 6 – 8 are eligible to compete. Students will compete individually. Students will qualify to compete against other schools. Practice sessions will be held in the Learning Center during FLEX periods beginning in January. Please check the poster in the Learning Center.
Do you play chess? If you are interested in some open play, sessions will be held in the Learning Center during FLEX periods on Wednesdays beginning in October. Please check the poster in the Learning Center. Players may be invited to compete in a school tournament in spring. Wednesday chess play will continue through the spring.
Reading Olympics team members are invited to crash and read every Tuesday during FLEX period. Please sign out of FLEX before reporting to the Learning Center.
